Islamic Law - Not In America

In today's world of far reaching political correctness, there are many that consider criticism of any value system to be morally wrong - especially when it is interconnected with religion. Yet how many in America would truly like to be governed by Islamic law (sharia law)? Most countries with a high muslim population are governed by Islamic law to some extent. From Iran where homosexuals are hung in public, to Somali where thieves have their hands cut off, to Afghanistan where in certain areas girls are denied a basic education, in Malaysia women are whipped for drinking, and Saudi Arabia where women cannot even drive.

These events are not just cultural or a strange coincidence, these are Islamic laws. The problem is in the fact that Islam is not simply a religion, it's a political doctrine. As an American, I would never want to live under a totalitarian government, but cherish our secular values, and democracy and freedom of speech - as imperfect as it is. Though this has been in the back of my mind for some time, what motivated me enough to blog about this, was the discovery of an organization called Stop Islamization of America. SIOA's goal is to stop Islamic law, from ever becoming American law.
