US Conflict with Iran

If you want to learn more about the US conflict with Iran, then you'll want to read this article. Specifically we'll discuss the nuclear arms issue, the leaders of Iran, and the ultimate revolution that is slowly unfolding. After reading this article, you should have the scoop on what's really happening with Iran.

The US is concerned with the prospect of Iran getting ahold of nuclear weapons. Many people believe it's simply because they have threatened Israel, but that's not the whole story. With the current leadership, Iran is a threat to the US as well. Iran has supplied weapons to the insurgents in Iraq to kill American soldiers, and is not reluctant to assist groups that are a terrorist threat. Hamas has claimed responsibilty for numerous suicide attacks on innocent civilians, and it's Iran that in large part funds their operation. The Iranian government has laundered money through the US illegally, and many assets have had to be frozen.

You may hear mainly about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad because he is the President of Iran. However, it's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that really runs the show. The system of government is that of a religious totalitarian government, that operates under sharia law. Iran has often been criticized for human rights abuses. Citizens have been routinely executed there for homosexuality and adultery.

There has been an ongoing revolution that began with the 2009 Iranian election. Many of the Iranian citizens are young, well educated and yearning for freedom and democracy. They wanted moderate Mousavi to win, which would bring a more secular government into existence. The election was a major fraud, and the corrupt Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei forced Ahmadinejad back into office. Protests have been met with beatings, rape, and imprisonment.

Though a leader change in Iran may still be a way off, the Iranian revolution is inevitable as the will of the people. With the current leaders in Iran, a US conflict with Iran cannot help but to be a constant, but I absolutely believe things will change for the better. In a nutshell, that's the nuclear arm issue, the leaders of Iran, and the Iranian revolution.
